GOLDEN RULES of Buying Bird’s Nest
What are the tips of buying bird’s nest in the market ?
1st Golden Rule: Buy it from the trusted manufacturer. There are so many unknown or unregistered manufacturers in the bird’s nest market. They sell their products today and be gone by tomorrow. You will not find quality in their productsbecause all they care is profit. So, you better do a little research on the manufacturer of the product you buy. Check their website, brochure, or company profile to gain confidence and knowledge about the company.
2nd Golden Rule: Be careful with the very low price products. Of course, the low price product doesn’t always mean low quality. But it does not guarantee food safety and quality either. You would not want to compromise your health by buying low quality or unknown product in the market for sure.Once you decide to eat bird’s nest, we suggest that you are willing to pay extra money for better quality product manufactured by trusted company.
3rd Golden Rule: Physical appearance of the bird’s nest does not guarantee its quality. Many peoplevalue the high quality bird’s nest according to the image that retailers are trying to create such as strong and whole shape, white color, smooth surface, small feet, large cup size, and many other else. The too perfect-looking bird’s nest that is flawless in its body may have gone through many alterationprocesses making it less natural. Please see the fact vs myth below.
FACT vs MYTH
Is bigger = better quality?
Bigger size doesn’t mean better quality. The reason why the retailers charge so high for the bigger size bird’s nest is simply because it looks more appealing. However, it contains just the same nutritients as the small one or fractured one. While in fact, as the bigger size bird’s nest takes longer time to make, it might actually contain higher nitrite than the small one.
Is whiter = better?
Many people have conceived wrong concepts regarding to the color of the bird’s nest. First of all, bird’s nest contains minerals like iron, zinc, magnesium, potassium and sodium. When these minerals are oxidized, they will result in a color change to the Bird Nest (that explains why we have the yellow, orange, white, etc). Most people are now looking for the super white color as it looks good to the eyes. However, we have to be careful in selecting the color. “The question is how white is too white?” Most popular natural white color should be something like ivory white, pearl white, pure white. Never ever buy the super white color as it most likely has been bleached or washed with chemical to whiten the color. To be safe, we suggest you to choose the natural white color bird’s nest to consume.
Is smoother = better ?
Not always. The level of smoothness on the surface of the bird’s nest determines the textures when we eat it. Some people may like rough and strong textures, while some also like soft-medium textures. It is simply a matter of preference.
Who and when to eat bird’s nest?
Bird’s nest can be consumed by all groups of ages, but some people who have protein allergic may find it unsuitable. Bird’s nest is advised to be taken early in the morning before meal and late at night before sleep.
Is Cave Nest better than House Bird’s Nest? Why Is It So Expensive?
No. Cave bird’s nest are mainly harvested from natural caves where the harvesters are exposed to great danger when harvesting these bird’s nests. That is why retailers put high price tag on the cave nest. However, cave nests mainly contain more foreign materials and are exposed to heavy metal contaminations. Therefore, we do not positively suggest you to take the cave nest for daily consumption.
